Fouine or Beech/Stone Marten I originally thought that some of the clips on this page were of pine martins, but now I believe
they are all beech martins or fouines. The fouine is lighter in colour, is more often found in buildings and the throat patch is an inverted Y shape rather than circular. However identification
remains difficult.
The beech martin is not found in the UK.
- A beech martin in woodland, scent marking, and then near a stream.
- A series of clips taken in a barn over several weeks.
- A beech martin at the edge of woodland. Compare with stoat.
- A series of clips at night. Note how the fouine is scent marking the log in one clip.
