Mammals of the Charente/Dordogne

Deer

Roe deer are much the commonest deer in the Charente/Dordogne region. All the film I have obtained is that of roes.

They are most active at dawn and dusk but can be seen throughout the whole day.

They are quite vocal making a barking sound similar to a dog.
  1. Adult female filmed near dusk, in February.

  2. Male grooming, early morning in summer.

  3. Female in summer.

  4. Female, then young (note comparatively larger ears) spring.

  5. Male deer at night. Note the flattened palmate (flattened) antlers of the second individual. I still think this is a roe deer

  6. Male deer, then a male and 2 females.

  7. Young deer at twilight.

  8. Unusual clip of female with "blowing" mist in summer.
